Wrecord Monkey Jewelry

Wrecord Monkey Jewelry

Do you have a stack of old vinyl records in your basement collecting dust? Well, a Brooklyn based design company called Wrecords By Monkey found a stylish way to recycle those great memories. Founders, Patrick Chirico and Brian Farrell, carved out a niche in the accessories business by handcrafting bracelets, pendants, rings and earrings made from old vinyl records. First they screen print the original graphic over the record. Then cut and shape it into the design. All while helping to leave a low carbon footprint.

What is really cool is that on many of the cuff bracelets, depending on the graphic you pick, you can still see the grooves of the records! There are so many different prints to choose from. You are sure to find one that fits your unique lifestyle. With several themes such as Off The Train (The images range from trains and cityscapes to dripping graffiti and spilling fire hydrants. The collection was inspired by New York City’s J-train,), and NYC Artist Series, which featured 12 NYC artists. All of their accessories are inspired by fashion, art, and music. They even have a new glow in the dark series! So what are you waiting for? Donate your old vinyl today for a truly personalized piece or just buy one and rock out with your cuff out! Check them out at www.WrecordsByMonkey.com. You can also find them at the Brooklyn Flea Market.

Shopping for vintage just went mainstream! The Brooklyn Flea Market is such a New York summer tradition that it is no surprise that someone finally picked up on it and decided to do a collaboration. Madewell is hosting a “summer share” at their SoHo and East Hampton locations starting Thursday June 25th. They will open up space for some of the Brooklyn Flea’s most amazing vintage finds! Madewell’s marketing director, Gigi Guerra, and stylists, Lisa Schulner, have worked in conjunctions with the popular vintage dealers to find their best vintage garments and accessories that will complement the Madewell brand of products. And why not? What goes better with those Madewell jeans than a great selection of affordable vintages top and yesterdays jewels? Happy hunting!

Brooklyn Flea takes place every weekend in two locations:
Every Saturday in Fort Greene (10am-5pm), and every Sunday under the Brooklyn Bridge on the waterfront in DUMBO (11am-6pm).

Click here for a map and directions to both locations.

The Fort Greene Flea is outdoors at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, on Lafayette Ave. between Clermont and Vanderbilt Ave., and features 150+ vendors of vintage furniture, clothing, collectibles and antiques, as well as new jewelry, art and crafts by local artisans, plus delicious food. It is open from 10am to 5pm—rain or shine—every Saturday.

Brooklyn Bridge Flea takes place directly under the world’s most beautiful bridge with gorgeous views of the Manhattan skyline and the bridge overhead. It features 100+ vendors with a similar mix to the Fort Greene Flea, including many of the same vendors. Brooklyn Bridge Flea is open from 11am to 6pm every Sunday.
